The Sunday Morning Sommelier: Mirassou Pinot Noir
May 9th, 2010
Alcohol content: 13.5%
Price: $8.99
Description per label: Offering intense flavors of cherry and plum with delicate floral notes and hints of vanilla. This versatile wine pairs beautifully with salmon, poultry, or risotto.
Review: This pinot noir possesses three of my favorite things; great flavor, cheap price and high alcohol content. It tastes better than most pinot noirs that cost 2 to 3 times as much. The label sells the wine short when suggesting the pairings. This wine does not need to be paired with anything other than you and a glass. Served slightly chilled, this is a wine for all occasions including drinking alone in the dark or when your boozier girlfriends come over to play because it won’t break the bank.
