Grass-fed Chevron goat meat has become a staple in our house over the past year. While we use it in everything from curry to taco bowls our favorite meal is the classic grilled burger with a twist (bunless, of course). Goat meat is an extremely healthy red meat option that is low in calories, fat and cholesterol. Check out the meat comparison chart:
Below is Scott’s amazing burger recipe. He is, after all, the #1 chef in the house. My main job is to just clean up after him. We typically make four 4 oz patties per 1 pound of goat meat.
1 lb Goat Meat
1/4 small onion minced
1 tbsp capers
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp Worcester sauce
1 tbsp organic ketchup
1 egg yolk
Sea Salt and Pepper to taste
1. Combine ingredients in mixing bowl
2. Divide into 4 equal patties
3. Grill on medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side
4. Add crumbled goat cheese after turning
5. Top with whatever pleases you. I usually just eat it plain because I’m boring like that.

Last week was a first for the Barlow family. No, not going to the beach but vacationing sans daddy. My girlfriend invited us over to New Smyrna Beach to stay for a couple nights. At first, my 1950′s housewife persona kicked in and I thought there was no way I could travel with the monsters by myself much less without Scott. But I quickly got over that after doing a few mental calculations. One, the kids had no camps. Two, Scott had to work. Three, beautiful, FREE accommodations with fantastic company. So, off we went. Above is where we stayed. The condo on the upper-left hand side of the picture. Not in the crazy, rumbling beach mobile.
We are Gulf Coast Floridians. What does that mean? We are used to calm, warm-watered beaches. While the coolness of the Atlantic was enjoyed by all the waves were definitely the main attraction. Bring on the boogie board fun.
Because I had warned the kids that New Smyrna Beach held some seriously impressive shark bite stats much of the boogie boarding (Read: sitting, waiting and mom pulling) was done in very shallow water.
Gray’s best friend, Jay. These two have a full-blown bromance going on.
Personally, I am more of a country club pool kind of girl. I don’t much care for sand. But you can’t deny the children the beach especially when it makes them this happy. My selflessness continues to amaze me.
This little nugget is quite the charmer. Tennison was relentlessly mothering or perhaps smothering Baby O the entire two days. He graciously indulged her.
Three bottles of wine consumed, only two tantrums thrown, one minor car vomiting incident and zero shark bites. I would say those calculations add up to a successful beach trip. Thanks for having us, Christine and family.

Like many of you this week, I have been consumed by the Casey Anthony drama. I have officially had enough. So instead of watching Vinnie Politan all day on TruTV I decided to turn the coverage off and crack open a book. You should do the same. Reading does the body good – as you will see below. Enjoy.
A case against reading – it obscures Mr. Depp’s gorgeous face.
Matt Bomer in deep thought. Most likely about me.
Oh, Edward, Edward, Edward. How I love thee.
Yes, Orli. I will read. As long as I can sit in your lap while doing so.
Adam Brody. The scruffy intellectual.
For the True Blood fans here is Alexander Skarsgard contemplating… something.
Russell Brand. One sexy, skinny, well-read Brit.
Where’s the book, Ryan? Who cares. Just enjoy his hotness.
*Happy Friday, ladies!*
