I’m not the most ‘kid’ creative person in the world and often come up short when thinking of ideas on how to keep my little monsters entertained. No longer can I get away with calling our numerous trips to the grocery store an ‘adventure’ and we can only go to the neighborhood park so many times before we all (well, mainly me) want to shoot ourselves. So, when I ran across this candy sushi idea from Mommyknows, I immediately set this plan into action. The kids absolutely loved it. One note, be prepared for a sugar meltdown followed by a possible napless afternoon but watching them make their ‘sushi’ creations was worth it.

It was a long, rainy day in Florida yesterday so while the kiddos napped I cranked down the AC, fogged up the windows and pretended it was fall in Maine. It worked until I looked outside and caught a glimpse of one of my dead palm trees. While the cool weather may still be a couple months away, thankfully, school isn’t. It actually begins in 26 days, 3 hrs and 14 minutes but who’s counting? And, yes, I still shop like I am going back to school as well. It makes me happy. *Full back-to-school Kid’s Edition coming soon.

As moms, we have all wiped our share of asses and then some. After the 9th trip to the bathroom with my 3-year-old yesterday, I began to wonder if it will ever end. But I have to say, those over-priced baby wipes will remain a staple in my house long after my diapering and potty-training days are behind me. Here are a few more uses I have found for the most versatile baby product I have come across since having kids:
- - Heavy-duty booger extractor
- - Impromptu ‘shower’ before kid pick-up
- - Deodorant mark remover (Pampers brand only)
- - Car Detailer (dashboard, leather, car-seat)
- - Fur-ball extraction, containment, and disposal
- - Restroom currency
- - Croc shoeshiner
- - Dusting cloth for housekeeper’s ‘off-week’
- - Removing crayon, food, and unmentionables from walls
- - Dead roach collection and disposal
- - Full-body beach and playground sand remover
- - Public restroom ‘glove’ for toilet seat, flush lever and all handles
- - On-the-go face freshener and make-up remover
- - Emergency toilet paper for boating, camping and play-dates gone horribly awry

Cindy Crawford has been an idol of mine for as long as I can remember. Except for her unfortunate foray into acting, the woman is perfect. She has beautiful kids,a beautiful husband and a lovely furniture collection at Rooms-To-Go. I am actually writing this post while sitting at a table from her California Cottage Collection. But it’s her first workout video that has had the longest lasting impact on me. I was in eighth grade when my mom brought this home and will never forget the memory of the two of us lugging our kitchen chairs into the family room and exercising with a supermodel for 45-minutes a day. That VHS tape traveled with me to college, to two boyfriends’ houses, and several nanny jobs until it finally and sadly, unravelled. I bought the dvd version a couple years ago and still do one of the three workouts (set to the wonderful musical stylings of Seal), at least once a week. Pull out one of your old exercise videos this week and give it a whirl. Just because it’s old, it doesn’t mean it still won’t kick you butt.
