Wedding redux

Apr 30th, 2010

With three invitations tacked to my corkboard I guess wedding season has officially arrived.  Usually I am excited to play dress-up and enjoy my free shrimp cocktail and champagne.  The problem this year is that the weddings are all in the same city with some serious attendee overlap.  There is no way around this one.  I need three new dresses.  I mean, seriously, how am I supposed to upstage the bride in some old dress from the back of my closet!?  I kid, I kid.   So, instead of going on a Nordstroms bender and risk being thrown out of my house, I am turning to Rent the Runway.  It’s A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!  You can even rent your accessories.  How easy is that??

Haute Hippie Rental $100

Rope ‘em in dress Rental $50

Tibi Rental $100

Jayden Rental $50

Sky Rental $100

and of course…the Carrie Dress!!!  Rental $50

So relatable

Apr 28th, 2010

Sometimes, as mothers, we need to be reminded that we are not alone out there.  Yes, we see each other at school drop-off, gymnastics, t-ball etc. but we don’t always share the gorier details of our day-to-day parenting.  Those moments when you feel that you are either going completely insane or failing miserably as a mom are often withheld.  Do yourself a favor and pick-up a copy of Amy Wilson’s book, When Did I Get Like This?.  Besides being absolutely hilarious it serves as a nice reminder that it’s okay not to be perfect.  Our kids are not going to die because we didn’t puree their baby food from organic produce on a daily basis.  My favorite chapters are A Tale of Two Mommies and Disequilibrium.   Read it and let me know your most relatable parts.  Trust me, you will thoroughly enjoy this book!

Short Shorts!

Apr 23rd, 2010

I absolutely love short shorts. It’s probably because I’m a Floridian and summer lasts around 9 months here. Just make sure to tan your gams before wearing.

The Beauty of Botox

Apr 22nd, 2010

About 6 months ago my sweet little daughter, Tennison, looked at me, giggled, and asked me why I had so many cracks on my face.  I almost shot myself. After I recovered, I decided that something had to be done. I just looked so freaking tired all the time.  I would often catch a glimpse of my reflection in the car windows when I was loading or unloading my two terrors.  Hoisting a combined weight of 64 pounds in and out of an SUV 14 times a day would make anyone look exhausted, right?  To be fair, I was born with the forehead of a bulldog but the lines were getting a bit too deep for my personal comfort level and obviously my kid found them offensive as well.  I told the hubs I was giving myself an early birthday present and booked an appointment with the dermatologist.  Two weeks later and $298 lighter, I looked much more relaxed.  All is right with the world now. Hmmm, now where did I put that Restylane pamphlet…
